Mactan Island Cebu, a beautiful island located about 1 hour south of Manila by plane is one of the reasons this area is called, Pearl of the South. Hosting not only world class 5-Star resorts, easily accessible by its International Mactan Airport, the island is home for the cities of Lapulapu City (also called Lapu-Lapu depending upon where you read), Pusok, and Basak. Cebu City is only a short drive away as well as Mandaue being accessible across either of the two bridges which connect to the island.
What's down the road for Mactan.com? Being a relatively new site (we came on-line on January 26, 2006), but one which has already experienced large amounts of visitation, our goal will be to provide residents of the island, visitors from other parts of the Philippines and of course, those in other countries, with a way to find what they're looking for when they come to our beautiful island. Beep... beep.... beep.... Attention, Attention. Urgent News Announcement:
As our site begins to come alive, we need your help! Mactan.com is looking for roving reporters to let us know what's going on here on the island. Help us fill our activity calendars, report on local events including festivals, celebrations, etc.
It's your chance to make an impact world-wide and at the same time, help promote activities which might otherwise be unknown. If you're interested in being one of our roving reporters, simply send us a message and let us know about you!
February 22 Update: We have been flooded with applications for roving reporters. Please note that this is NOT a job that pays. This is a non-paid position for anyone located on Mactan that wants to have some fun reporting on local events. The only compensation is free Internet access at our office to upload stories, events, etc. and for recreational browsing.
Even with this information posted that it's a non-paid job we continue to receive emails from those asking for more information about salary, etc. From this point forward all emails that are requesting the working hours, salary information, benefits, etc. will not be replied to and will be deleted. We've taken the time to write this so that you'll take the time to read it. Thank you!
